FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MOVES QUICKLY TO ADDRESS SERIOUS VIOLATIONS OF TITLE VII 5 years ago, the Rehabilitation Services Administration of the U.S. Dept. of Education conducted a review of Indiana's IL program which corroborated the allegations long made by our Center and other Indiana advocates about ongoing fraud and corruption.DOE demanded that the state stop controlling the council, and that it actually come someplace close to following federal law. As you can see by checking out the videos at http://www.everybodycounts.org/icoil.htm and the information at http://www.onecandream.com/ICOIL/, or reviewing the hundreds postings on DIMENET, or articles published in the Mouth and Ragged Edge, things have only gotten worse. The council says it doesn't have to follow the ADA, anyone asking questions or expecting accountability is kicked off of the council, and police are called if someone raises their hand. A recent request from Congressman Peter J. Visclosky to RSA Commissioner Edward Anthony for an update on the status of implementing the directives in the report of findings led to this response from John Hager, Assistant Secretary for the office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, U.S. Dept. of Education: 'RSA is reviewing the related issues and will provide the appropriate responses once this review is completed.' Huh?
