Another 11 minute meeting of the Indiana Council on Independent Living.
Another gathering of people who haven't got a clue ignoring audience
members who've been trying to get answers to a couple of questions for
several months now. Another example of conflict and corruption as 7 CIL
directors (the majority of council members) vote to give themselves
another quarter of a million while cutting out the 2 CILs also in the
network of centers which continue to demand accountability and
compliance with federal law, another passing of a state plan written
behind closed doors without benefit of public hearings, another sad day.

Total illegally denied to our CILs to date now climbs to 4.5 million. 
That would get a whole lot of staff, legal services and consumer
training for our communities, especially when we're in the process of
implementing consent decrees in our landmark ADA transportation lawsuit
and everything.

The real tragedy is that the message being sent, loud and clear, is:
don't rock the boat, advocacy can just be writing letters, you don't
have to like mean it and everything by going to the Governor's office
and telling them their long term care system sucks, you could just get
on an advisory committee or something and get yourself another sole
source contract.
