This release (version 0.71) includes a Java 2 install for Solaris platforms with serial TTS devices making the SVK the first assistive technology that works on multiple platforms. In addition to support for Solaris, this release includes the following significant enhancements and bug fixes: - A new Perk for the Bobby application. - Moved "Enable Output" from the menu to the main panel; receives initial focus. - Updated and improved documentation in the API Reference. - Updated "IBM Guidelines for developing Accessible applications using 100% Pure Java" - Enhanced Perk customization with the following new features: - All previously monitorable events are now extensions of EventTask, giving the additional ability to programmatically determine whether an event's default action should be executed, or overridden. A sample implementation of this feature is included in BluePagesPerk. - The TaskTools methods (out(), msg(), stopNow(), and stop()) now accept a device parameter for ease of multiple device support. - Added a new setting called VerboseTrap to aid Perk debugging. - Fixed a problem where AutoTasks registered within a Perk were not removed when the Perk was removed. - Fixed a NullPointerException when TopLevelWindowWithFocus is null. - Fixed a NullPointerException when current item's AccessibleState is null. - Fixed an IllegalArgumentException when a specified Perk name to add is an "illegal name" as defined by Java. - Fixed reading of table column headers. - Fixed "spelling" of all numeric "words". - Improved error handling when resource file is not available. - Included items in our View previously excluded due to being contained within a non-accessible component. - Updated the default user interface with the following: - Fixed "space" announcement for first character typed in an edit field. - Added "delete xxx" when more than a single character is highlighted and then deleted. - Set default setting of SpellCaps to On for acronyms like "IBM". - Changed focus announcement of class names to role names. - Changed the mapping of the stop function from the Ctrl key to (Shift+Ctrl). - Inhibited sending of stop (when KeyStop is On) for keyboard keys that are part of an incomplete sequence. - Improved focus announcement processing when switching between top level windows. - Fixed announcement of "top" when changing focus to menus.
