On June 3, the state senate passed a supplimental budget that includes
$3,000,000 for a home modification program. The Senate language is not
exactly the same as the house version that passed in April, So the bills
are in confrence committee. As of today July 8 that is where the bills
remain. We are not finished yet, but we are into the home stretch!!
What we all need to do at this time is to call the following legislators
to see that the two bills do not die in confrence but come to a reality
for all.
House Ways and Means Chair Rep. Paul D. Haley (D-Weymouth)
617-722-2990
Senate Ways and Means Chair Sen. Stan Rosenberg (D-Amherst)
617-722-1481
Representative Harriette Stanley (D-Merriac)
617-722-2380
Representative Kevin Poirier (R-N.Attleboro)
617-722-2491
Senator Henri Rauschenbach (R-Brewster)
617-722-1570
Senator Robert Travaglini (D-E.Boston)
617-722-1634
Whats the message?
1. Thank them for their support ( This is the most important message)
2. Urge them to make sure the legislature passes a Home Modification
program this session. ( there is always the possibility that a program
could die in confrence committee for lack of action)
3. The House and Senate versions are slightly different, tell them that
you want to see the following:
a. Grants as well as loans as part of the program ( the Senate version
does not include this )
b. Renters as well as homeowners eligible for the program ( the Senate
version does not include this )
c. $3 million provided by the Senate ( the house vesion is for 2.65
million dollars )
